Huang Baonan, founder of Gengyun Publishing House. One day in August 1945, Comrade Mao Zedong and Comrade Zhou Enlai received her at the Eighth Route Army Office in Chongqing. After the founding of New China, Chairman Mao inscribed for her: “Work and study at the same time.” Premier Zhou inscribed: “Strive for the people’s publishing cause, may you reach even greater heights and advance further.” Shortly after the founding of New China, Gengyun Publishing House was merged into the SDX Joint Publishing Company, and Huang Baojun also “returned to the ranks” to take up work.
