The 26th Army Moves South for Combat;
The 9th Corps Prepares to Strike Reinforcements Before Their Arrival

(December 2, 1950)

Peng, Deng, and also Song, Qin:

(1) Celebrate the two great victories of our 9th Corps in annihilating the enemy.
(2) According to a report from the Xinhua News Agency correspondent stationed in Tonghua, on the afternoon of the 30th, the enemy forces occupying Hyesan were moving supplies and showed signs of withdrawal. The enemy troops at Sinhapo, west of Hyesan, had already retreated on the afternoon of the 30th. The enemy force that had invaded Hyesan numbered approximately 2,500 men. It appears that the U.S. 7th Division has withdrawn from Hyesan. Our 26th Army’s division stationed in Huchang, aside from leaving a portion to remain there and maintain eastward vigilance, may move its main force south for combat.
(3) In addition to intensifying efforts to annihilate the encircled enemy, our 9th Corps should also prepare to engage the two Syngman Rhee divisions that are certain to reinforce, as well as a portion of the U.S. 3rd Division.
