Telegram to Li Zhuchen and Others of the Tianjin Industrial and Commercial Community (December 2, 1950) Mr. Li Zhuchen, Chairman of the Tianjin Federation of Industry and Commerce; Messrs. Bi Mingqi and Zhu Jisheng, Vice Chairmen; and the forty-two thousand nine hundred and eighty-nine patriotic compatriots who participated in the Tianjin Industrial and Commercial Community’s Demonstration Rally in Support of Resisting U.S. Aggression and Aiding Korea, and in Defense of Our Country: Your telegram of November 30 addressed to me [1] has been received. You have clearly recognized the reactionary nature of the aggression launched by U.S. imperialists against China and Korea; you have refused to be deceived or intimidated by them, firmly upholding a patriotic stand in resisting U.S. aggression, aiding Korea, and defending our country. The just demonstration march you held on November 30 is most welcome.

The U.S. imperialists have engaged in extensive deceptive propaganda against the Chinese people. All patriots should not lend credence to such false claims. The U.S. imperialists have invaded Korea, occupied Taiwan belonging to China, bombed Northeast China, and employed all manner of thuggish tactics to intimidate the Chinese people. All patriots must resolve to resist U.S. imperialist aggression and refuse to be cowed by their threats. The heroic conduct of the Chinese People’s Volunteers in resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea is highly commendable. It is entirely correct for workers, peasants, intellectuals, and industrialists and merchants—indeed, all patriots throughout the country—to unite in solidarity to oppose U.S. imperialist aggression.

I hope that all patriotic industrialists and merchants across China will, together with the broad masses of the people, forge an even stronger united front against imperialist aggression than before. This will surely herald the ultimate victory of the Chinese people in their sacred struggle against imperialist aggression.
