Directive on News Reports Regarding the Main Korean War Theatre [1]
(17 November 1950)

Qiaomu:

All news concerning the main Korean war theatre should mention the Korean People's Army and the Chinese People's Volunteer Army together; it should not mention only the People's Army without mentioning the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, as was done in the "Xinhua News Agency, 15 November" dispatch. Such news dispatches, when sent to the front and throughout the country, serve no good purpose. Regarding news from Korea, some unimportant dispatches from TASS should not be forwarded. Xinhua News Agency should send its own people to conduct interviews and send dispatches, or write its own dispatches in Beijing based on internal intelligence reports.

Newspapers should write editorials to encourage the Volunteer Army.

In *Reference News*, headlines are randomly assigned without any basis, helping the Americans to intimidate the Chinese people. This should also be rectified.
