[1] Li Shuqing, a village teacher. When Mao Zedong was in the countryside, he often visited Li's home to read and seek advice. During the Great Revolution, Li went to Guangzhou to assist Mao in running the Political Weekly, and later worked in the Committee for the Liquidation of Counter-Revolutionary Estates of the Hunan Provincial Peasant Association. After the "Horse Day Incident," he returned to his hometown and resumed teaching. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as a member of the Hunan Provincial Cultural Relics Management Committee and a researcher at the Hunan Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History.
