Letter to Hu Qiaomu [1] concerning the “Joint Declaration of the Democratic Parties” (November 4, 1950)  To Comrades Qiaomu and Xu Bing [2]:  Please have Comrade Qiaomu immediately print seven clean proofs of this document [3]. After they are completed, four copies are to be sent to Mao, Zhou, Liu, and Zhu, while three copies are to be handed over to Comrade Xu Bing.
Comrade Xu Bing is requested to meet again this afternoon with Li Jishen, Huang Yanpei, and Luo Longji [4] for their review and to obtain their approval, returning the document to me before 7:00 p.m. today.

Notes  [1] Hu Qiaomu was at that time Mao Zedong’s secretary.  [2] Xu Bing was then Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee.  [3] Refers to the “Joint Declaration of the Democratic Parties,” issued on November 4, 1950, by all the democratic parties—including the Communist Party of China—expressing their full support for resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea in defense of the motherland and national security.  [4] Li Jishen was then Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.
Huang Yanpei was one of the principal leaders of the China Association for Promoting Democracy.
Luo Longji was a member of the Central Standing Committee of the China Democratic League and Director of its Propaganda Committee.
