Peng, Deng,[1] and inform Gao[2]
(1) All telegrams received and noted with great satisfaction. The overall situation hinges on the entire 38th Army of our forces swiftly and vigorously capturing the area around Kunu-ri,[3] Kaechon,[4] Anju, and Sinanju to sever the link between enemy forces in the north and south, and resolutely annihilating the U.S. 2nd Division advancing northward. This is the first matter of critical importance; everything else is secondary.
(2) The entire R.O.K. 8th Division and the 19th Regiment of the R.O.K. 6th Division are all located at Husa-dong, Pungmu-dong, and other places on the northern bank of the Chongchon River. Only the R.O.K. 7th Division is located at Kunu-ri, Songjong, Kaechon, and other areas south of the Chongchon River.
