Key Points of the First Campaign
(October 28, 1950)
Peng, Deng,[1] and Gao:[2]
Your telegram of 8:00, October 28,[3] received. (1) Congratulations on your initial victory in battle. (2) At present, the key to the entire campaign lies in two points: first, to firmly seize the puppet 7th Division at Kochang[4] and Chosan, preventing its escape, so that the puppet 1st, 6th, and 8th Divisions will have no choice but to send reinforcements, giving us battles to fight; second, to have all three of our armies fully assembled and complete their campaign deployment, so that our attacks will be swift, fierce, and powerful, ensuring the annihilation of the enemy.

Before dawn on the 26th, at 4:00, several dozen were captured after being encircled east of Onjong. After the battle ended, due to fatigue and negligence, the battlefield was not cleared, and it was only yesterday (the 27th) that over 60 abandoned vehicles and all their heavy weapons were discovered; several dozen more prisoners were captured during mountain searches. Details are under investigation.
