Telegram to Peng Dehuai and Deng Hua [1] Concerning the Operational Situation of the ROK 6th and 8th Divisions (October 27, 1950) Peng and Deng, with a copy to Gao [2]: (1) According to intelligence received here, the 2nd Regiment of the ROK 6th Division is encircled and reportedly annihilated, which contradicts the report in your telegram. Please verify and inform us accordingly. The 19th Regiment of the ROK 6th Division is reinforcing Wenjing, while its 7th Regiment has had its line of retreat cut off by our forces at Guchang. Under these circumstances, if we press the attack effectively, it may be possible to completely wipe out the entire ROK 6th Division. (2) Only one battalion of the ROK 8th Division remains in Hichon; its main body has withdrawn to Ch’angp’yong and is reported to be preparing to advance on Wenjing. In view of this, the current deployment targeting Hichon is no longer appropriate. Please reassess the situation and make adjustments as necessary.
