Telegram to Peng Dehuai and Deng Hua [1] Regarding the Enemy’s Reports on Our Troops’ Movements (October 25, 1950) Peng and Deng: Among all the reports received so far, only the intelligence staff officer of the puppet Sixth Division has stated, on the basis of refugee accounts, that sixty trucks carrying Eighth Route Army troops moved from Sinŭiju to Sinchang in Changsŏng County during the nights of the 19th and 20th. Apart from this, there have been no reports from any quarter indicating the arrival of our forces. Both the U.S. military authorities in Pyongyang and those in Tokyo still believe that they will reach the Yalu River within a few days. Moreover, some hold the view that Kim Il-sung intends to organize a final stand at Kanggye. Mao Zedong, 6:30 a.m., October 25 Printed from the manuscript.
