(October 25, 1950)
To Peng, Deng, and Gao:

The newly obtained situation is as follows: (1) The 2nd and 7th Regiments of the Puppet 6th Division passed through Shuanmudong[1] yesterday and reached Guchang[2] near the riverbank. Today they should be able to reach Chushan City, which threatens our two communication lines at Ji’an and Changdianhekou[3]. Please make prompt dispositions. (2) It is estimated that two regiments of the 8th Division can reach Huichuan today. (3) The U.S. 24th Division and the British 27th Brigade have together passed through Sinanju and the Chongchon River. It is said that the combat effectiveness of the American troops is weaker than that of the puppet troops, but it seems appropriate to concentrate on fighting the puppet troops in the first battle. (4) The U.S. 25th Division is maintaining the communication line from Pyongyang to Taejon. The U.S. 1st Cavalry Division[4] is defending the Pyongyang–Chinnampo[5] area. Neither of the above two divisions can be moved. The U.S. 2nd Division seems to be north and south of Pyongyang, but the situation is unclear. The main force of the Puppet 7th Division is still east of the river; one of its regiments, attached to the Puppet 1st Division, has already reached Yongbyon.

Line (Capital Division, 3rd Division). (4) South of the 38th Parallel is extremely empty, with only one Turkish brigade (newly arrived) and three shattered puppet army divisions. Therefore, the People’s Army is very active. According to a report from the Puppet 5th Division on the 21st, in the Kyongsang-namdo and Kyongsang-pukto area alone there are over 56,000 People’s Army troops, dispersed in various places carrying out activities, etc. As long as we win one or two battles in the north, the activities in the south will surge even higher. (5) Please order the 66th Army to prepare to block or deploy to annihilate the British 27th Brigade. (6) Peng previously reported that the enemy had landed at Sinanju and |; there has been no response from any side, so it seems inaccurate. (7) Please ask Gao to prepare a large number of boats in the Yalu River for use in case the bridges are destroyed. If the damage to the bridges is not great, they should be repaired as soon as they are damaged. Also, transfer boats from the Linjiang[6] area to see if crossing by boat is easy.
