This was Mao Zedong’s comment on a report dated October 10, 1950, from Liu Yalou, Commander of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.
Liu Yalou’s report stated: Based on the experience of the Korean War, the U.S. imperialists are particularly intent on showing off their might in the air force and will frantically bomb all kinds of aviation targets, especially aviation schools. Considering the current development of the situation, in the event of war, the existing locations of our various aviation schools are all situated not far from the front lines or the coast, and are located on key transportation routes (the Chinese Changchun Railway) and in economic and political centers (Shenyang, Beijing) that will especially attract the enemy’s attention. Therefore, we are considering whether our military’s various aviation schools need to be relocated.
