Telegram and Commentary Congratulating the Congress of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (July 18, 1950) To Comrade Pieck [1] of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and to all members of the Central Committee: We are deeply honored by your invitation to our Party to send a representative to your congress, which is to be held from July 20 to July 23. We have accordingly dispatched Comrade Wang Jiaxiang, a member of the CPC Central Committee, as the Chinese Communist Party’s representative to Berlin to attend your congress and convey our congratulations.

From afar, I extend my warmest wishes for the complete success of the National Congress of the Socialist Unity Party of the German Democratic Republic. May the artificial division of Germany imposed by the imperialists come to an early end; may a unified, democratic Germany be established without delay; and may the entire German nation, under the correct leadership of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany and the Communist Party of Germany, achieve liberation at an early date.

Long live the great Socialist Unity Party of Germany and the Communist Party of Germany!
