Telegram from the Military Commission Regarding Agreement to Implement Mixed Organization of the Two Units of Dong Songheng and Luo Guangwen [1] (July 15, 1950)

Su Tang Zhou Zhang [2] and inform Chen Rao [3]:

Your Wu Han telegram is noted. Since Dong and Luo are also ideologically prepared, we agree with your method of mixed organization, but please pay attention to political persuasion work during the mixed organization, so that Dong and Luo and their cadres feel satisfied, in order to strive for their progress and peace of mind in their work.

[1] Dong Songheng and Luo Guangwen were former Kuomintang government army generals. In December 1949, Dong Songheng and Luo Guangwen successively led their troops to revolt in the Chengdu area. After the revolt, the troops were sent to the East China region for reorganization.

[2] Su refers to Su Yu, who was then Deputy Commander of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Deputy Commander of the East China Military Region. Tang refers to Tang Liang, who was then Director of the Political Department of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Director of the Political Department of the East China Military Region. Zhou refers to Zhou Junming, who was then Deputy Chief of Staff of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Deputy Chief of Staff of the East China Military Region. Zhang refers to Zhang Zhen, who was then Chief of Staff of the Third Field Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Chief of Staff of the East China Military Region.
