Reply upon Receiving the Letter of Credence

(July 3, 1950)

Mr. Ambassador,

I am very pleased to accept the letter of credence from the Presidium of the Little Hural of the Mongolian People’s Republic presented by Your Excellency, and I thank Your Excellency for your warm congratulations.

Close relations have long existed between the peoples of China and Mongolia. For several decades, due to the instigation and estrangement by imperialism and China’s reactionary rule, mutual contacts were severed. Under the influence of the October Revolution, the Mongolian people not only long ago broke away from China’s reactionary rule and established a genuine people’s democratic state, but are also advancing along the path of economic and cultural development. The Chinese people wholeheartedly congratulate the Mongolian people on this achievement. Now that the Chinese people’s revolution has basically been victorious and diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia have been established, I believe this will not only further develop and consolidate the friendship between the peoples of our two countries, but will also contribute to lasting peace in Asia and the world.

I warmly welcome Your Excellency’s assumption of the post of first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Mongolian People’s Republic to the People’s Republic of China, and I am willing to render assistance to Your Excellency in the work of strengthening cooperation between our two countries.

I wish your country prosperity and your people well-being, and I wish good health to the head of your state.
