Reply on the Occasion of Receiving the Letters of Credence from Mr. Jalkhaisan, Ambassador of Mongolia to China (July 3, 1950)

Mr. Ambassador: It gives me great pleasure to accept the letters of credence tendered by Your Excellency on behalf of the Presidium of the Small Khural of the Mongolian People’s Republic, and I wish to express my gratitude for Your Excellency’s warm congratulations.

Close ties have long existed between the peoples of China and Mongolia; however, for several decades these relations were severed by the machinations of imperialism and the reactionary rule in China. Inspired by the October Revolution, the Mongolian people not only threw off the yoke of Chinese reactionaries and established a genuine people’s democratic state, but are also advancing along the path of economic and cultural development. The Chinese people wholeheartedly rejoice in this achievement of the Mongolian people.

Today, the Chinese people’s revolution has been essentially victorious, and diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia have been established. I am confident that this will not only further develop and consolidate the friendship between our two peoples, but will also contribute to lasting peace in Asia and throughout the world.

I warmly welcome Your Excellency as the first Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the Mongolian People’s Republic to the People’s Republic of China, and I stand ready to assist Your Excellency in strengthening cooperation between our two countries.

May your country prosper and its people thrive, and may its head of state enjoy robust health. Printed in the People’s Daily, July 4, 1950.
