(June 24, 1950)

I am very pleased to accept the credentials presented by Your Excellency from His Majesty the King of Denmark, and I thank Your Excellency for your congratulations.

Friendship exists between the peoples of China and Denmark. In devoting ourselves to the development of economic relations and the safeguarding of world peace, I believe that the peoples of our two countries share common aspirations. The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Denmark will undoubtedly further consolidate the friendship already existing between the peoples of our two countries, and I hope it will also contribute to lasting world peace.

I warmly welcome Your Excellency as the first Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Denmark to the People’s Republic of China, and I am willing to render assistance in Your Excellency’s work of strengthening the friendly relations between our two countries.

I sincerely wish prosperity to your country and well-being to your people, and good health to the Head of your State.
