Letter to Wang Shoudao[1]
(June 14, 1950)

Comrade Shoudao:

The mother-in-law of Comrade Mao Zezhang, Old Lady Zhou,[2] is already sixty years old this year. She has lived in my home in Shaoshan, Xiangtan, for over ten years and enjoys very good relations with the local people. She is a fine old person. Her daughter, Comrade Zhou Wennan, works at the court in Shenyang and has now returned home to visit the old lady. The old lady previously expressed a wish to go to the Northeast to live with her daughter, but no decision has yet been made. If the old lady goes to the Northeast, please consider whether it is possible to provide assistance with travel expenses. If possible, and if it can be justified under general practice, then assist her; if not possible, then have her remain in her current place for the time being. Please discuss and handle the matter with Comrade Wennan.
