Mr. Ambassador:

Reply upon Presentation of Credentials
(June 12, 1950)

I am very pleased to accept the credentials presented by Your Excellency the Ambassador and conferred by the President of the Republic of Poland, and I thank Your Excellency for your warm congratulations.

The profound friendship between the peoples of China and Poland has long existed. During the world anti-fascist war, we followed with boundless sympathy and concern the staunch and heroic struggle of the Polish people. Today, we feel even greater admiration for the brilliant achievements of the Polish people in rebuilding their motherland.

At present, the governments and peoples of both China and Poland are continuing to work and struggle for the common goal of world peace. I am convinced that the increasingly close cooperation between China and Poland in the political, economic, and cultural fields will not only benefit the peoples of the two countries but will also further strengthen and consolidate the camp of world democracy and peace.

I warmly welcome Your Excellency’s assumption of office as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the People’s Republic of China, and I am willing to render assistance in Your Excellency’s work of consolidating the friendship between our two countries.

I sincerely wish prosperity to your country, well-being to your people, and good health to your head of state.
