[1] This is Mao Zedong’s comment on the report submitted on May 17, 1950, by Deng Hua, Commander of the 15th Corps of the Fourth Field Army of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, to the People’s Revolutionary Military Commission of the Central People’s Government and the Fourth Field Army Command.
[2] Navy Command refers to the Navy Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.
[3] Refers to the heroic deeds described in Deng Hua’s May 17, 1950, report to the Military Commission and the Fourth Field Army Command, in which three small sailing boats (carrying forty to fifty men) from a unit of the 43rd Army of the 15th Corps engaged three or four enemy warships in combat.
