Senior Schoolmate Senpin, greetings:

Both of your previous letters have been received, much to my comfort. I apologize for the delay in replying due to pressing matters. Brother Qinming\[2\] sacrificed himself for the revolution, which is deeply lamentable, yet also a matter of glory. The shortcomings in cadre work you mentioned exist in many places; efforts are now being intensified to rectify them, in the hope that improvements can be made. I fully approve of your taking up work. The approach seems to be that you should contribute and demonstrate your commitment to the interests of the masses, earning their respect, and thus naturally integrate yourself into the work. It would not be appropriate for me to recommend you, as that might instead compromise your virtue. I wonder if you agree with this view? Whenever convenient, please continue to favor me with your wise counsel. I respectfully wish you health and progress. No more for now.
