Letter to Xiang Zhenxi [1] (April 13, 1950) Respected Madam Xiang: It is with great joy that we mark your eightieth birthday.
For this occasion, I have sent my son An-ying back to Hunan to pay his respects and bring along some modest gifts—ginseng, deer antler velvet, and fabrics—to express our heartfelt congratulations.
I sincerely hope you will accept them with a smile.
Wishing you continued health and happiness!
