Farewell Speech at the Moscow Railway Station
(February 17, 1950)

Dear comrades and friends:

During this visit to Moscow, Comrade Zhou Enlai and I, along with other members of the Chinese delegation, had the opportunity to meet with Marshal Stalin and other leading comrades of the Soviet government. The profound understanding and deep friendship we have established, based on the fundamental interests of the peoples of China and the Soviet Union, are beyond words. It is evident to all that the unity of the peoples of China and the Soviet Union, now solidified by treaty, will be eternal, indestructible, and inseparable. This unity will not only inevitably contribute to the prosperity of both China and the Soviet Union but will also influence the future of humanity and the triumph of peace and justice worldwide.

During our stay in the Soviet Union, we visited many factories and farms, witnessing the great achievements of Soviet workers, peasants, and intellectuals in socialist construction. We observed the revolutionary spirit and practical approach cultivated among the Soviet people under the guidance of Comrade Stalin and the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. This reaffirmed the long-held conviction of the Chinese Communists: the Soviet Union’s experience in economic, cultural, and other vital areas of construction will serve as a model for the building of a new China.

In Moscow, the capital of the Soviet Union, and in Leningrad, the birthplace of the October Revolution, we were warmly received. As we depart from this great socialist capital, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Marshal Stalin, the Soviet government, and the Soviet people.

Long live the eternal friendship and cooperation between China and the Soviet Union!

Long live the Soviet people!

Long live Comrade Stalin, the mentor of the world revolution and the cherished friend of the Chinese people!
