Strengthen Political Training for the Insurrectionary 3rd Paratrooper Regiment
(February 4, 1950)
Comrade Su Yu[1] (via the Central Committee):
(1) How many men remain from the 3rd Paratrooper Regiment[2] that came over during the earlier insurrection, what is their skill level in parachuting, how is the political work among them progressing, have any Party members been developed, and what is their general political mood? Report by telegram.
(2) It is hoped that political training for this group of paratroopers will be strengthened. We need to use this group of paratroopers as a foundation to train a paratrooper unit for use in landing operations on Taiwan.

[1] Su Yu, then serving as Deputy Commander of the Third Field Army and the East China Military Region.
