Inscription and Condolence Telegram Written upon the Tragic Demise of Ahmetjan and Four Other Comrades
Comrade Iskhak Bek, a member of the Central Committee of the Xinjiang League for the Defense of Peace and Democracy; Comrade Abdulkrim; Deputy Commander of the Ethnic Armed Forces, Comrade Dallilhan; and Comrade Luo Zhi of the Xinjiang-Soviet Cultural Association—tragically perished on September 1, 1949, in an airplane crash while en route to Beijing[1]. This is an immense loss for the people of Xinjiang and the Chinese nation, and I express my profound sorrow over it.
Comrades Ahmetjan and the other four had bravely fought throughout their lives for the liberation of the people of Xinjiang, ultimately sacrificing themselves in the cause of establishing the People’s Republic of China. They deserve to be eternally remembered by all the Chinese people. May Comrades Ahmetjan, Iskhak Bek, Abdulkrim, Dallilhan, and Luo Zhi live forever!
Mao Zedong, Chairman of the Central People’s Government of the People’s Republic of China
