Telegram to the Former Employees of the Resources Commission [1] Stationed in Hong Kong Who Had Declared Their Separation from the Kuomintang Authorities (November 19, 1949)  Comrades, Employees of the Foreign Trade Office of the Hong Kong Trade Office of the Resources Commission:  We were greatly gratified to learn of your telegram of the 14th [2]. We earnestly hope that you will unite as one, steadfastly uphold a patriotic stand, and safeguard the property of our motherland, pending its receipt by the Central People’s Government. [2] Refers to the telegram dated November 14, 1949, sent by Wu Zhixiang and thirty-four other employees of the Foreign Trade Office of the Trade Office of the Resources Commission stationed in Hong Kong, addressed to Chairman Mao Zedong and others of the Central People’s Government. In the telegram, they announced their severance from the reactionary Kuomintang regime, pledged to protect their assets in Hong Kong, and placed themselves at the disposal of the People’s Government for receipt.
