Mao Yuanxiang
(1924–1996),
a native of Shaoyuan Village, Shaoshan Township, Shaoshan City, Hunan Province, was a nephew of Mao Zedong. At that time, he was studying at the Hunan Branch of the Central China People’s Revolutionary University.
He joined the Communist Party of China in 1942 and later served as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Yinhuai District in Xiangtan, Hunan, and as Political Commissar of the Armed Work Team in Fengyin Township, Xiangxiang County. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he held positions such as Head of the Propaganda Department of the South District Committee of the CPC in Changsha.
