Please telegraph a report on whether Comrade Simonov, the famous Soviet writer, and his party have arrived in Hengyang and how they are to proceed to the Guangxi front to observe military operations. Pay very close attention to this matter. Ensure they are properly received and escorted, and guarantee their safety while enabling them to smoothly obtain practical material on army life, military operations, and local mass activities, so as to facilitate the writing of a work on the heroic People’s Liberation Army. If they wish to continue accompanying the Fourth Corps into Yunnan, they should be welcomed and similarly well protected.
