To Our Dear Comrades of the Central Committee of the Xinjiang League for the Defense of Peace and Democracy: The first delegation of the people of Xinjiang to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference—their vice-chairman, Comrade Ahmetjan; the commander-in-chief of the Ethnic Forces of the Ili, Altai, and Tacheng Three Districts, Comrade Iskhakbek; a member of the Central Committee of the Xinjiang League for the Defense of Peace and Democracy, Comrade Abdulkrim; the deputy commander of the Ethnic Forces, Comrade Dalil

Han; and Comrade Luo Zhi of the Xinjiang–Soviet Cultural Association—tragically perished in an airplane crash while en route to Beijing in September 1949〔2〕. This is an immense loss for the people of Xinjiang and the entire Chinese nation, and I express my profound condolences.
Comrades Ahmetjan and their four colleagues fought valiantly throughout their lives for the liberation of the people of Xinjiang and ultimately gave their lives in the cause of establishing the People’s Republic of China, deserving eternal remembrance by all Chinese people.
May Comrades Ahmetjan, Iskhakbek, Abdulkrim, Dalilhan, and Luo Zhi live forever!

Remarks on Saifuddin’s Application for Party Membership〔1〕 (October 23, 1949) Approve Comrade Saifuddin’s admission to the Party.
This letter is to be personally delivered by Saifuddin to Comrade Peng Dehuai〔2〕 and kept in Peng’s possession.
After the establishment of the Xinjiang Bureau, Comrade Saifuddin shall complete the formalities for joining the Party before the Bureau.
