Letter to Stalin (October 20, 1949) Comrade Stalin: I hereby introduce Comrade Wang Jiaxiang to you. Comrade Wang’s mission in the Soviet Union is, in addition to serving as our Ambassador to the USSR and concurrently, in his capacity as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, to oversee general diplomatic affairs concerning the new people’s democratic states of Eastern Europe, to act also as a representative of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (he is a member of our Party’s Central Committee) and to liaise with you and the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of the Soviet Union on matters pertaining to relations between our two parties. I request that you and the comrades of the Central Committee of the CPSU, from a comradely standpoint, provide him with guidance whenever necessary, so that his work may yield more substantial and better results. I express my advance gratitude to you. With comradely greetings! Mao Zedong Beijing, October 20, 1949 Printed from a copy preserved in the Central Archives of the CPC.
