Reply to Zhou Shizhao by Telegram [1]
(August 11, 1949)
The telegram of the 7th [2] has been read and I deeply appreciate your kind sentiments. At present the revolution has not yet succeeded and there are still many difficulties ahead. I hope you will unite all the teachers and students of the school, intensify your studies, and participate in the cause of the people’s revolution. This is my earnest wish.

[1] Main content of Mao Zedong’s telegram in reply to Zhou Shizhao. Zhou Shizhao was then President of the Hunan Provincial First Normal School and a schoolmate of Mao Zedong when they studied at the school.
