Telegram Celebrating the Thirtieth
Anniversary of the Communist Party USA
(August 23, 1949)
Dear Comrade Foster and Comrade Dennis:1
We Chinese Communists and the Chinese laboring people warmly congratulate
you on the thirtieth anniversary of the Communist Party USA. Under the highhanded policy of the American reactionary forces, the Communist Party USA
and American progressive personages have maintained an unyielding struggle
for international peace, the democratic rights of American workers and American
people, and true friendship between the Chinese people and the American people,
lending important encouragement and support to the Chinese people and the people of every country in the world. The future of America does not belong to the
American reactionaries, who are outwardly strong but inwardly weak, but rather
to you and the American people. We wish success in your struggle and that of the
American people, and we wish for ever-stronger unity between Chinese workers
and American workers and between the Chinese people and the American people.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party,
Mao Zedong

1.  William Z. Foster (1881–1961) and Eugene Dennis (1905–1975, aka Francis Xavier
Waldron) were American labor organizers and leaders of the Communist Party USA.
