Directive to Hu Qiaomu[1]

(June 10, 1949)

From July 1 to July 7, commemorative weeks shall be held nationwide. On July 1, the focus shall be on Party propaganda, and the scale should not be too large. On July 7, military-civilian demonstrations and parades shall be held, along with mass rallies. In cities such as Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Hangzhou, Nanchang, and Jiujiang, grand military reviews and large-scale demonstrations shall be conducted to commemorate the War of Resistance Against Japan, oppose U.S. support for Japan, demand the early conclusion of a peace treaty with Japan, and eliminate the remnants of the Kuomintang. Please draft an internal directive and a separate list of slogans (consider dividing them into two lists, one for July 1 and one for July 7).
