Mao Zedong’s inscription of the masthead for *People’s Railway News*.

[1] *People’s Railway News* was first published in Beijing on May 1, 1949. Before its inaugural issue, Mao Zedong, at the request of *People’s Railway News*, inscribed the masthead, writing three versions of "People’s Railway" and circling one in the upper right corner. He then sent word to comrades at the Ministry of Railways and the newspaper: "You asked me to write the masthead, and I wrote three. Which one do you think is best? I circled one—do you think it can be used?" The newspaper selected the one circled by Mao Zedong as the masthead, and it has been in use ever since.
