Telegram to Lin Biao, Xiao Ke, Tan Zheng, and Tao Zhu[1]

(May 20, 1949)

Please forward this to all your armies and divisions for their attention. Correctly handling the issue of the rendezvous between the Fourth Field Army and the southern guerrilla units is of utmost importance.

[1] On May 20, after receiving a report dated May 15 from the Front Committee of the Second Field Army concerning misunderstandings that occurred during the rendezvous between the Third Corps' river-crossing forces and the guerrilla units in southern Anhui, Mao Zedong drafted this telegram on behalf of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China to Lin Biao, Xiao Ke, Tan Zheng, and Tao Zhu, forwarding the said report. This is the main content of the telegram. Tan Zheng and Tao Zhu were then serving respectively as director and deputy director of the Political Department of the Fourth Field Army.
