Reply to Guo Moruo, Xu Deheng and 27 Others
(May 18, 1949)
I am extremely gratified to learn of your return, laden with honours, from your endeavours for the cause of international peace and democracy. Please wait a short while in Shenyang until Mr. Ma Yinchu[2] and the others arrive, and then travel back to Beiping together by the same train, so that the people of Beiping may accord you a grand welcome to strengthen the ranks of world peace and in recognition of your worthy efforts.
