Your telegram of February 26[2] has been received. We agree to the differentiation of the directions of attack for the three army corps as proposed by you. Please determine the marching routes for the three army corps according to this differentiation.

[1] This is a telegram drafted by Mao Zedong for the Military Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to Xu Xiangqian, Deputy Commander of the North China Military Region and concurrently Commander and Political Commissar of the First Army Corps; Zhou Shidi, Deputy Commander and concurrently Deputy Political Commissar; and Chen Manyuan, Chief of Staff.

[2] On February 26, 1949, Xu Xiangqian, Zhou Shidi, and Chen Manyuan telegraphed the Military Commission, stating: "Regarding the differentiation of the directions of attack for the various army corps, we propose that our army corps and Peng Shaohui's column attack from the east of the city, the Second Army Corps attack from the south of the city, the Third Army Corps attack from the northeast of the city, and the Jinzhong forces provide support by attacking from the west of the river."
