Concerning the Operational Disposition of the Yang-Luo-Geng Corps[1]

Yang, Luo, Geng, and inform Yang, Li, Cheng, Huang, Nie, Bo, Lin, Luo[2]:

(1) Order Yang, Luo, and Geng to lead the Second Corps to set out from Quyang today, the 26th, and proceed within five to six days’ march to the area west of Zhuoxian and Laishui to await orders. Thereafter, depending on the situation, either move to the Beiping–Suihua line to coordinate with Li and Yang in annihilating the enemy, or move to the area west of Beiping to operate, strike, and pin down the enemy at Beiping, or conduct operations in other locations, to be determined by subsequent orders.

(2) The Seventh Column, under the command of Yang, Luo, and Geng, shall advance north from Baoding to press close to the enemy and conduct activities.

[1] This is a telegram drafted by Mao Zedong for the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, addressed to Yang Dezhi, commander of the Second Corps of the North China Military Region; Luo Ruiqing, political commissar; and Geng Biao, chief of staff.

[2] Yang and Li refer to Yang Chengwu and Li Tianhuan, who were respectively commander and deputy political commissar and concurrently director of the Political Department of the Third Corps of the North China Military Region at the time. Cheng and Huang refer to Cheng Zihua and Huang Zhiyong, who were respectively commander and chief of staff of the Second Corps of the Northeast Field Army at the time. Nie and Bo refer to Nie Rongzhen and Bo Yibo, who were respectively commander and political commissar of the North China Military Region at the time. Lin and Luo refer to Lin Biao and Luo Ronghuan, who were respectively commander and political commissar of the Northeast Field Army at the time.
