Letter to Hu Qiaomu[1]

(October 29, 1948)

My first oral broadcast has already taken effect. At 21:00 on the 27th, Zheng Tingfeng, commander of the 94th Army, reported to Fu Zuoyi: Yesterday, while listening to the radio broadcast, I learned that the bandit side seems to have some vigilance regarding our army’s operation to attack Shimen. The broadcast stated that our army, accompanied by two divisions of the New 2nd Army, plans to attack Shimen. Since the other side has sensed something, they must have made preparations in advance, and the attack may be difficult to succeed.
