Immediately Detach Several Columns to Advance Eastward by Double-Time March and Annihilate the Enemy Fleeing from Shenyang[1]

(October 28, 1948)

Lin, Luo, Liu:

We have just sent you the telegram of the 27th at 23:30 hours.[2] We have received your telegrams of the 27th at 18:00 hours and 11:30 hours. You have already deployed the main forces to advance rapidly toward Anshan and Haicheng to annihilate the enemy moving south from Shenyang. This is very good and most gratifying. We hope you will immediately detach several columns to advance eastward by double-time march tomorrow[3] (the 28th). If they can cross the Liao River on the 29th, the enemy fleeing from Shenyang will not be able to escape; otherwise, the enemy in Shenyang may possibly withdraw to Yingkou by the 30th.
