To Mr. Chen Jiageng, with request that this be forwarded to democratic organizations of overseas Chinese in various localities and to all overseas Chinese who advocate democracy:

The telegrams from Singaporean Chinese organizations dated May 4, as well as letters and telegrams received from Chinese associations throughout Nanyang, only came to hand today due to communication disruptions. Your concern for the motherland and your endorsement of our Party’s statement of May 1 concerning the current situation are deeply moving and commendable. We earnestly hope that you and other overseas Chinese leaders will continue to communicate your specific views on convening a New Political Consultative Conference at any time via telegram, so as to facilitate progress. We place great reliance on your guidance.
