[1] Jiang Ying, wife of Mao Zedong's secretary Ye Zilong, entered the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University in January 1936, joined the Communist Party of China in 1937, and followed the Central Committee in its operations across Shaanxi, Shanxi, and Hebei in March 1947. In early 1948, Mao Zedong inscribed for Jiang Ying: "The light is ahead, strive and struggle."
