An Order to Correct “Leftist” Errors
(January 20, 1948)
A letter to all central bureaus:
I am in complete agreement with the views of Comrade Xi Zhongxun. If there
are similar instances in the old base areas in North China and Central China, pay
close attention to correcting them. In places where comrades have made “leftist”
errors, the leadership should never wait too long before starting to correct them; if
the right methods are adopted, they will be corrected with a few weeks. But while
correcting these errors, you must be careful not to create the mistaken impression
among your subordinates that they should stop doing anything for the sake of
correcting leftism.
