Telegram in Reply to the Telegram from the
Inner Mongolia People’s Congress1
(May 19, 1947)
(Xinhua News Agency dispatch, Northern Shaanxi, May 21) Chairman Mao and
Commander-in-chief Zhu send a reply telegram to the Inner Mongolia People’s
Congress. The telegram reads as follows:
Dear Representatives of the Inner Mongolia People’s Congress:
We received your telegram of May 17. Under your leadership, the Inner
Mongolian compatriots who have suffered extreme hardship have begun to create a free and glorious new history. We believe that the Mongolian people will
become closely united with the Han people and China’s other nationalities in
the struggle to eliminate ethnic and feudal oppression and to build a new Inner
Mongolia and a new China. Congratulations on your victory.
