Inscription for Zhu Baoting’s Funeral Banner[1]

(January 29, 1947)

A hero of the working class.

[1] Zhu Baoting was an early leader of the Chinese workers’ movement and participated in leading two major strikes in Hong Kong. In 1935, he was arrested for engaging in the anti-Japanese national salvation movement and, after his release from prison, went to Yan’an. In January 1947, he passed away due to illness. On January 29, the General Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a memorial meeting for him. This is the funeral inscription written by Mao Zedong for Zhu Baoting.
