Congratulatory Telegram to Marshal Stalin
Celebrating the Twenty-Ninth Anniversary of
the Soviet Union
(November 6, 1946)
(Xinhua News Agency dispatch, Yan’an, November 6) On the eve of National
Day in the Soviet Union, Chairman Mao of the Central Committee of the Chinese
Communist Party and Commander-in-Chief Zhu sent a congratulatory telegram
to Marshal Stalin. The original text of the telegram follows:
Your Excellency Marshal Stalin of the Soviet Union:
Congratulations on the twenty-ninth anniversary of your esteemed country.
Over the past twenty-nine years, the Soviet Union has consistently sympathized
with the cause of China’s national independence and the people’s liberation.
Starting with Dr. Sun Yatsen, the Chinese people have also consistently sympathized with the Soviet Union’s contributions to the peace and progress of mankind. May this friendship be perpetually strengthened.
