Letter to Ren Bishi

(October 20, 1946)

Comrade Bishi:

The enemy’s large forces have occupied Jiaozuo, and there is a possibility that they may attack Shangdang in the future (though not for the time being). Taihang is not particularly secure. At present, all central organs that are to be evacuated and assigned work in various regions may proceed; however, institutions such as the Kangxiao and nurseries, whose purpose is relocation, should probably be postponed for the time being. If Yulin is captured and Yan’an is again in imminent danger, then relocation to places like Suide would be appropriate. Please consider this.
