[2] From September 29 to October 3, Yang Chengwu and Wang Ping (Political Commissar of the Hebei–Shanxi Military Region) led one brigade of the Shanxi–Chahar–Hebei Field Army and various independent brigades of the Shanxi–Chahar–Hebei Military Region in launching a large-scale sabotage campaign on the northern section of the Beiping–Hankou Railway. They annihilated over 8,000 enemy troops, controlled more than 120 kilometers of the railway, and coordinated with operations on the eastern section of the Beiping–Suiyuan Railway.
