Critique on the Editorial Draft and Letter Submitted by Lu Dingyi[1] for Review

(September 11, 1946)

Not only should illusions about the United States be clarified, but the main focus should be on clarifying pessimistic thinking and pointing out the inevitable victory ahead. This is the central issue at present.

[1] The editorial refers to the one published in *Liberation Daily* on September 12, titled "Chiang’s Army Is Bound to Lose." In his letter to Mao Zedong when submitting the editorial for review, Lu Dingyi wrote: "In the course of the war, the main objective of propaganda is to expose the United States and clarify comrades’ various illusions about it."
