To Zhang Dingcheng, Deng Zihui, Tan Zhenlin, and Others[1]

(July 15, 1946)

Regardless of victory or defeat in this battle at Taixing, immediately after the engagement ends, the troops must be reorganized and prepared for further combat. This must be done even if a great victory is won, for the enemy will continue to attack. Our army on the southern front must be prepared to fight four or five great victorious battles before the problem can be resolved.
